The tricky part about Bangkok, as every seasoned traveller knows, is its legendary traffic. Reading about it is one thing, but sitting completely stationary in a taxi with restless kids is an entirely different story. That’s exactly why Chatrium Grand turned out to be such a gem of a spot; tucked right in the Siam district along Phetchaburi Road, it gives you that calm, five-star sanctuary feel while keeping you connected to everything. The BTS Skytrain is a hop, skip, and a jump away and the hotel’s complimentary buggy shuttle whisks you between the hotel and the massive lifestyle mall that is Siam Paragon - having door-to-door access to retail therapy, great dining and entertainment without wrestling curbside traffic made daily outings blissfully easy.

The rooms are gorgeous, spacious sanctuaries with deep soaking tubs, plush four-fixture bathrooms stocked with fragrant Panpuri amenities, an espresso maker for that vital morning kick, and a complimentary welcome minibar on arrival. If you're travelling with younger ones, Chatrium Hospitality’s Kids Stay Free offer is brilliant, allowing up to two children under 12 to stay and eat breakfast complimentary when sharing existing bedding.

Booking Club-level gave us access to the Chatrium Club Lounge on the 32nd floor, which quickly became our favourite family retreat. Sitting high above the skyline, it was our go-to for morning bites, all-day refreshments, and evening aperitivo hours with lovely sips and savoury plates. Downstairs at Savio, the breakfast spread catered effortlessly to our family’s quirky mix of cravings, from dim sum and tropical fruit to classic western choices and healthy breakfast bowls.

When it was time to step away from the urban hum, the lifestyle and wellness amenities delivered pure bliss. Spend easy afternoons on the 7th floor lounging by the massive pool and nibbling on wood-fired pizza and light snacks from Flow, the alfresco pool lounge. For a deeper holistic reset, the Thann Sanctuary Spa is heavenly for restorative bodywork, while the on-site Dr Orawan Medical Center brings a high-end clinical wellness element right to your doorstep. And while you sneak in some self-care or a workout in the fitness center, the Kids Zone keeps little ones thoroughly entertained - (Ifat Kafry Hindes was a guest of Chatrium Grand Bangkok).

Don't miss: We ate lots (natch) but the absolute star of the show was the afternoon tea set in the Club Lounge; the warm, crumbly scones paired with rich clotted cream and gorgeous homemade jam were sublime.

Dusit Thani Bangkok

Great hotels in Bangkok - all rooms at Dusit Thani boast stunning park views

Bangkok’s Dusit Thani hotel has been welcoming guests since 1970 and is a well-recognised landmark in the city. But in 2018 the building was completely demolished and a six-year reconstruction project set in motion. The result is a stunning addition to the Thai capital.

Upgrades mean the entire shape of the building has been altered in order that all rooms enjoy the sweeping views over neighbouring Lumpini park. Key features of the original hotel have also been painstakingly preserved, such as the nine-step lobby waterfall inspired by the Dusit Heavenly Waterfall located inside the original hotel.

Hong Kong designer André Fu was engaged for the interior design; clever day beds in guest rooms stretch the length of the cantilevered windows, enabling guests to relax as they soak up the views. The generously sized rooms also feature (very welcome) Dyson hairdryers, Nespresso coffee machines and Bosé sound bars. 

Family-friendly facilities include a fun kids’ club with age-appropriate activities and spacious rooms able to accommodate two adults and up to children (children under 11 years can stay free of charge). 

The pool on level five enjoys park and city views and has a fully covered lounging area (handy when it rains but also useful for keeping children sun-protected). And Lumpini Park is a great escape, with shady trees, grassy areas, a large children’s play area and swan boat rides.

The hotel is part of the US$1.25 billion Dusit Central Park mixed-use development, with residential apartments 'Dusit Residences' and 'Dusit Parkside' recently coming online, and a brand new shopping mall, Central Park, which opened at the end of 2025. The mall is linked to the hotel and offers a huge food hall with more than 70 street food vendors and Bangkok’s largest collection of Michelin Guide eateries. A key focus of the development is the 2.8-acre Roof Park with a 750m walking trail, water features, lush landscaping and great views - (Carolynne Dear was a guest of Dusit Thani Bangkok).

Don't miss: The 1970 Bar on the 39th floor has stunning city views and an equally stellar cocktail menu that takes its cue from the '70s with mixes influenced by famous faces of the decade. The bar is surrounded by semi-cantilevered floor-to-ceiling windows that lean out onto the Bangkok skyline - the view is mesmerising.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River

Great hotels in Bangkok - take a riverside plunge at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok

The luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River opened in 2020 to much fanfare, and with good reason. This fabulous property is located along 200m of open riverfront and just 40 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. If you haven't already stayed, do.

Rooms and suites balance Thai contemporary aesthetics with all mod cons and each room has floor-to-ceiling windows to soak up the gorgeous river or garden views. 

The hotel might be seriously sophisticated, but it’s also family-welcoming. Family-friendly in-room touches include a cuddly Chao Plai elephant mascot and a chocolate pop treat to welcome young guests. A tent experience is also available on request. 

If you’re a larger family group, the spacious Terrace Suites come with landscaped and furnished outdoor spaces, while Riverfront Penthouses can accommodate up to nine guests. Meanwhile, the 450sqm Presidential Suite boasts two-storey windows, a living area with a bar, a kitchen, three bedrooms and an oversized terrace with plunge pool. 

There’s a kids’ club by the dedicated children’s pool with daily activities, a wooden playground and plenty of toys and games. With a sleek design inspired by the river’s flow, the kids’ club is aimed at children aged four to 12 years. Meanwhile, parents can take advantage of a spa featuring a hair salon, barber shop, nail salon, fitness centre and a 30m lap pool - (Marcus Langston was a guest of Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River).

Don't miss: Family dining privileges include complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner for under fours (when ordered from the kids’ menu) and free drink refills. Children aged five to 11 years receive a half-price breakfast at the Riva del Fiume dining spot.
