What's happening in Macao this autumn - don't miss the fireworks in September

Be dazzled as Macao’s night sky is set alight by the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest this autumn. This spectacular light and sound show takes place on several Saturday nights during September and October and on China’s National Day on October 1 (a public holiday in Macao and Hong Kong). This is an international event, and more than 100 pyrotechnic teams from across China, Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Canada, and Africa have participated over the years. The Macao Government Tourism Office will also host a photo contest and student drawing contest, adding even more colour to the festivities.

The 73rd Macau Grand Prix

What's happening in Macao this autumn - the Macau Grand Prix roars into town in November

The Macau Grand Prix roars back into life this November, celebrating its 73rd anniversary. The thrilling event is a standout on the sporting calendar as it's the only street circuit in the world featuring both cars and motorcycles. The challenging 6.2 kilometre Guia Circuit snakes its way through the streets of Macao, with warm-ups, racing and the main Formula 3 event held over four days. More details to follow, stay tuned.

The 26th Macau Food Festival

What's happening in Macao this autumn - roll up to the annual Food Festival by Macau Tower

Bring rumbling tums and tuck-in at this annual festival of food. Enjoy a huge range of local Macanese, Chinese and regional Asian and European street foods from more than 100 stalls, as well as live entertainment and family game booths. The 26th Macau Food Festival takes place in November at the city’s Sai Van Lake Square (in front of the Macau Tower). Entry to the festival is free, with on-site food and drinks purchased via coupons or digital payment.

World Tourism Day Tray Race

What's happening in Macao this autumn - cheer on competitors taking part in the annual Tray Race

Macao is celebrating World Tourism Day on September 27 with a tray race. At this unique event, competitors must sprint from the famous Ruins of St Paul’s to Senado Square in the city’s historic centre while balancing a bottle of Macao Beer on a serving tray. Awards are given for first, second and third place as well as a best costume award based. As well as the unusual racing, there’s live music, performances and a prize presentation ceremony. The event is free to watch.
