Hong Kong’s contemporary art museum, M+, presents ‘Design Ah! Experience the Wonder of Everyday Design’ this summer. This interactive, family-friendly special exhibition explores design and its role in everyday actions like walking, eating and sitting. Hands-on games and installations and immersive audiovisual presentations mean kids can look closely, try things out and find out how everyday design - from chopsticks and toothbrushes to buses and traffic lights - can improve our lives. The exhibition features 21 stations organised around ten daily actions, some of which reference Hong Kong’s environment and traditions. The exhibition concept is based on Design Ah! neo, a Japanese educational children’s television programme.

Billed as Hong Kong’s first summer water park, ‘Jumptopia - Set Sail on the Grand Line’ comes to Citywalk this month. The water park includes outdoor themed play areas as well as a naval-themed ‘Mysterious Bay’ area in the atrium of Phase 1 of the mall, with a treasure hunt, puzzles and challenges - kids get to board ‘driftboats’ and navigate fog and sound effects to complete a maritime adventure, deciphering hidden codes and completing a shooting mission. Finally, they can stage their escape by slipping down a six-metre slide. Outside in the Garden Plaza is an ‘Outdoor Water Battle Zone’ with plenty of water-based fun. There are seven interactive water installations, including a storm water canon at the centre of the circular pool, high-pressure water guns, a water tower and a littlies-friendly ‘Mushroom Fountain Area’ with smaller water jets and a water ‘curtain’.

What's on for kids in Hong Kong this summer - lego fun in Tsim Sha Tsui

Head to Legoland Discovery Centre Hong Kong for an all-new event running throughout the summer holidays. Event highlights include Monster Strike Battle Table where participants can build custom Spinjitzu spinners, Ninjaverse Search tracking hidden ninja characters throughout the venue’s ‘Miniland’, Ninjago Training with an exclusive training headband on completion, and Whispering Woods Quest with dragon-building to defend the woods against elemental monsters. Complete all the trials and receive a limited-edition badge. Visitors can also head to the Lego 4D cinema to watch ‘Lego Ninjago - Master of the 4th Dimension’. The Superheroes Exhibition

What's on for kids in Hong Kong this summer - the superheroes are on their way

Hong Kong is set to host The Superheroes Exhibition to celebrate 60 years of Superman. Coming to Incubase Arena in Monk Kok, the event will showcase characters from the original 1966 Superman film through to the latest reincarnations in 2026. The core exhibit, ‘Heroes Gathering’, is landing in Hong Kong for the first time from where it has been touring in Japan. It features multimedia interactive games, like the ‘Superman Transformation Device’ and a ‘Monster Ball Pit’. Also check out the interactive painting projection wall featuring hand-drawn artwork. In August and September there will be four, limited-number meet-and-greet sessions with a different Superman character appearing at each session (tickets are available on the day on a first-come, first-served basis). Fans will also be able to browse more than 150 products directly imported from Japan as well as Hong Kong-exclusive Superman photo cards at the pop-up themed store.

Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car Night Ride

What's on for kids in Hong Kong this summer - Ngong Ping 360 celebrates 20 years this summer

Ngong Ping 360, Hong Kong’s famous cable car ride over Lantau island, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Cable Car Night Ride. The after-dark ride is available on eight weekend nights during the summer holiday period, including July 24 and 25 and August 1, 2. 8, 9, 15 and 16. Cable car operations will be extended until 10pm with the last boarding at 9.30pm, meaning passengers can enjoy the nighttime scenery of Lantau island, including the lights of Hong Kong airport, views of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge and the illuminated Big Buddha. Guests taking the night ride cable cars will receive a mini UV flashlight to highlight the surprise fluorescent patterns in the cabin. On the days of night rides, Ngong Ping Village will host a line-up of popular Hong Kong singers to entertain guests beneath the stars and the village will transform into Nostalgic Neon Light Main Street, recreating 1980s Hong Kong street scenery.

What's on for kids in Hong Kong this summer - hit the waters of Kei Ling Ha Hoi

Go Park Aqua has joined forces with local watersports clubs to bring an exciting ‘land-and-sea lifestyle destination’ to Hong Kong. The watersports park is perched on the shores of the crystal waters of Kei Ling Ha Hoi in the New Territories and through a partnership with Blue Sky Sports Association now offers activities like kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, dragon boating and wing foiling. This summer, Elite Sailing Academy Hong Kong will launch sailing dinghies and catamarans with professional coaches. Meanwhile, Goofy Waves Watersports Club has curated a range of landbased activities, like BBQs, beach movie nights and camping. Head up Victoria Peak to celebate the 138th anniversary of the city's Peak Tram. HSBC Life Illuminations at The Peak debuts in June, lighting up The Peak Tower with Hong Kong's highest 3D projection mapping spectacle. The show whisks audiences on a visual journey across the city, celebrating its unique charm and vibrant spirit. Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation and Hong Kong Palace Museum have joined forces to present ‘A Journey Through Ancient Egypt’. Nine MTR stations and two malls are taking part, extending the museum’s special exhibition, Ancient Egypt Unveiled, to the wider community. Hong Kongers are invited to move along participating MTR stops to uncover the charms of ancient Egypt via an audio guide and digital exploration badges available through the MTR Mobile app. The MTR ‘takeover’ begins at Hong Kong Station, which has been transformed into an Egyptian temple; don’t miss the on-site hieroglyph installation converting names into ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Further stations along the curated route include Admiralty, Central, Hong Kong West Kowloon, Hung Hom, Kowloon Tong and Kowloon Bay, as well as Elements and Maritime Square shopping malls.

Everyone’s favourite pig is coming to Hong Kong. Peppa Pig Fun Day Out! is making its debut in the city at Hong Kong East Kowloon Cultural Centre this summer, with an action-packed performance and loads of audience participation.
