Hong Kong is preparing for a month-long Halloween celebration this year thanks to a major campaign led by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).

HKTB is partnering with destinations across the city to launch the first ever ‘Hong Kong Halloween Month’, a citywide dress-up themed street party event that will take place over several weeks at popular tourist attractions like Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Ocean Park and venues around the city.

Anthony Lau, executive director at HKTB said the aim is to transform Hong Kong into the ‘go-to’ Halloween destination in Asia. “We want to turn up the festive energy across all corners of the city and invite visitors and locals alike to dress up, join the street party themed ‘Make the Streets Your Runway’, and experience a Halloween celebration found ‘Only in Hong Kong’,” he said.

From October 17 and spanning three consecutive Saturdays, districts including Central, Kai Tak, Lan Kwai Fong, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui will feature street parties and a variety of events like music parties, dress-up carnivals and immersive experiences, blending Halloween elements with local culture like Cantopop and Hong Kong’s renowned red minibuses. The festivities will culminate on October 31.
