Anantara Siam Bangkok will remain open throughout the refurbishment works which include a new-look pool deck
One of Bangkok’s most prestigious hotels, Anantara Siam Bangkok, is set to receive a major makeover, including a new-look kids’ club.
The US$50 million renovation will take place over two phases and the property will remain open throughout the project. Phase one runs until November this year and will see the refurbishment of Montathip and Kannika Court rooms and suites, Garden Terrace rooms, Kasara Lounge, the swimming pool and terrace and the fitness centre. Phase two will begin in May next year and will be completed by September. This phase will concentrate on the Garden Pool Villas, Parichart Court guest rooms, Spice Market restaurant, the kids’ club and the lobby.
The five-decades-old property is located in Ratchadamri, Bangkok’s most prestigious neighbourhood, and first opened in 1983. It has since stood as one of Asia’s most well-known hotels, renowned for its tranquil garden courtyards and storied hospitality.
With the new look, guests can expect a refreshed arrival experience with the revamped lobby and Kasara Lounge. The hotel will also feature a signature Jim Thompson suite, developed in partnership with the brand, showcasing bespoke Thai artistry and design heritage.
There will be six new Garden Suites with private plunge pools and landscaping and the pool area will be transformed into a tranquil urban retreat with greenery and poolside cabanas. Meanwhile, the fitness centre will receive the latest Technogym equipment, an infrared sauna and a pilates studio.
A daily cultural programme will invite guests to connect with local traditions, from morning alms-giving rituals to guided local storytelling and Thai botanical cocktail hours. There will also be a series of cultural guest experiences, featuring Sak Yant spiritual ceremonies, Khon mask-making workshops and signature Ananatara Spice Spoons cooking classes.
While refurbishment works are taking place, spa treatments will be offered in converted suites at Parichart Court and guests will have access to the wellness and pool facilities at St Regis Bangkok, just 20m away; the Anantara team will be on hand to escort and assist.
“We are making an historically significant investment in this transformation and the magnitude of the US$50 million commitment reflects the scale and ambition of our vision,” said Torsten Richter, the recently appointed general manager of Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. “We believe there is still extraordinary growth potential in Bangkok’s luxury hotel segment. Anantara Siam has long played a vital role in anchoring the heart of the capital - not just for international visitors, but for our local community as well. We look forward to continuing that legacy and to delivering a new era of unforgettable experiences that only Anantara Siam can provide.”
The refurbishment project follows further investment by Minor Hotels, Anantara’s parent company, in its Thai portfolio. On Koh Samui, Anantara Lawana has completed a full transformation and Anantara Bophut has unveiled refurbished guest rooms and enhanced family offerings. Anantara Mai Khao Phuket is currently launching new beachfront lifestyle concepts.
