The wait is over and the much-anticipated Kimpton Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong has had its big reveal.

Members of the press, including Asia Family Traveller, were invited for a sneak peek at the property yesterday ahead of its soft opening today.

The Hong Kong hotel is the largest global property in the Kimpton portfolio with 495 rooms - all with views of Victoria Harbour - a raft of dining spots and a spa. The hotel is located on the site of the historic Mariner's Club on Middle Road in Hong Kong's harbourside district of Tsim Sha Tsui. The building was demolished in 2018 to make way for the new construction.

Guest room configurations start with Essential Rooms and run through to the opulent Kimpton Harbour Suite with Balcony. One floor of the hotel is pet-friendly. Interiors feature rattan furnishings, Japanese Lemnos clocks and Tivoli bluetooth speakers. Custom Elephant Grounds Nespresso ‘Kimpton Kickstart’ pods are provided and further in-room refreshments include two Kimpton-exclusive chocolate bars from Hong Kong chocolate brand, Conspiracy Chocolate. Rooms boast window-side marble-framed tubs (perfectly placed for soaking up those harbour views) with bathroom amenities from Korean lifestyle brand, NONFICTION.

Kimpton showcases artwork from local artists throughout rooms and public spaces, such as contemporary artist Angel Hui and Hong Kong-based Filipino multidisciplinary artist Katrina Leigh Mendoza Raimann.

Dining spots include Birdsong, a barista-service coffee lounge and bakery by day, which transforms into Social Hour, a bar and small bites venue, by evening. Children are served daily between 5 and 6pm.

Hillside offers an international breakfast buffet with Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng classics, a noodle bar and an egg station. In a nostalgic touch, dim sum trolleys also work the room. Evenings see Hillside transform into an à la carte resaurant.

Still to come is JIJA, slated to open later this year and to be unveiled by Vicky Lau, one of Hong Kong’s most acclaimed chefs. JIJA will feature an elevated take on Southwestern Chinese bistro cuisine, showcasing the flavours of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi.

Swim Club, the rooftop bar, channels the glamour of California’s laid-back pool culture with a design inspired by Latin America and the Mediterranean. Expect breezy cocktails shaken with seasonal local ingredients.

And High Dive is a small but elegant speakeasy with Baccarat crystal glassware and a dramatic Baccarat crystal chandelier.

A spa is planned for next year. The 20m heated rooftop pool has 360-degree views of the harbour and is furnished with beach chairs and sofas, enabling guests to relax and enjoy both sunrise and sunset over the city.
