Views over the DLF Golf & Country Club from The Camellias.
Wellness and sustainability are at the top of the list for Indian property developer DLF, which has launched The Camellias, a residential development in the financial hub of Gurgaon in the north of the country.
The development is set between two award-winning golf courses with leafy views over more than 200 acres of DLF Golf and Country Club and the rolling Aravalli Hills.
The Camellias comprises 16 towers of 429 units, or 'The Residences', set around a Water Garden centrepiece. The Residences have been designed by international talent commissioned by DLF from Mumbai, New York, London and Los Angeles and have been divided into four categories including Classic, Signature, Imperial and Presidential. They range in size from 7,300sqft up to 16,000sqft, with just one unit per tower floor.
The development’s 12, 13,000sqft and two, 16,000sqft penthouses incorporate high ceilings and a pillar-free design to maximise natural lighting. Two balconies and a deck apiece boast views over the internal central landscape and golf courses.
Residents can take advantage of a luxury on-site clubhouse which has been divided into seven ‘energy zones’ and rivals the best of the world's five-star hotels.
Relax over a restaurant meal or sundowner with friends in The Social Energy Zone, whose restaurant offers Indian, pan-Asian and European dishes.
Woodland views from a balcony at The Camellias development.
The Relaxed Energy Zone has been designed for mental wellbeing and features a relaxing meditation garden, yoga space and a full pilates studio.
Enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor swimming pools in The Regenerative Energy Zone, or take advantage of a spa with Turkish hammam, vitality pools, rhassoul (mineral clay) treatments and a flotation pool in The Renewed Energy Zone.
The Creative Energy Zone has a 65-seat state-of-the-art movie theatre and a wide range of art and cultural programmes.
Or there’s an elevated boxing ring, rock-climbing wall and turf athletics field in the Active Energy Zone, and a bowling alley in The Competitive Energy Zone.
And of course there are also the golf courses…
Built in 1999, the DLF Golf & Country Club has three lakes and two, award-winning courses, including a nine-hole course that is also the first course in India to offer night golf, and an 18-hole course. They were designed by the late American golfing legend Arnold Palmer and South African professional, Gary Player.
The Golf Academy at the club offers instruction to members, juniors and corporates.
Residents can also take advantage of The Sanctuary, 6.8 hectares of walking track and ‘outdoor experiences’ including The Meadows, The Sculpture Garden, The Woodlands, The Palmerie and The Sacred Grove.
The Camellias was designed to be a sustainable community and is India’s first residential development to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification for sustainability and energy conservation.
Its design and development follow sustainable principles including ethically sourced and long-lasting materials and architectural, engineering design, construction and operations that ensured an environmentally-friendly building.
The golf courses are irrigated with recycled water and are home to thousands of fully-grown trees and a diverse range of flora and fauna. More than 1,000 mature trees were successfully transplanted to the area, providing a green canopy over an otherwise barren landscape. And the three man-made lakes have a reservoir capacity of eight million litres of water.
