A fun stay with the kids at Chatrium Grand Bangkok - review
An invitation to try a new city hotel was all the inducement Ifat Kafry Hindes needed to book a shopping trip to the Thai capital with her three children

Chatrium Grand Bangkok review
When planning our long-awaited family return to Thailand after a substantial gap between trips, finding the right destination was everything. And so a well-timed invitation to try the Chatrium Grand Bangkok property was just the push to book flights I needed.
In my younger, pre-child days, I would regularly jump on a plane from Hong Kong to Phuket for a quick reset to catch up with friends and simply take a breath. But lately, Bangkok has been firmly back on my radar. Following plenty of late-night reel research and endless travel curiosity, the electric energy of the city right now was more apparent than ever.
Over recent years Bangkok has transformed from a buzzing hub, into, well, even more of a buzzing hub. Its epic food - from incredible street food to increasing numbers of Michelin-recognised venues - vibrant markets, world-class wellness spaces, arts, culture and fantastic family adventures, keeps the city bubbling away as a must-visit destination.
A well-located hotel

Bangkok nights with the kids - the hotel is ideally placed next to dining and shopping venues
The tricky part about Bangkok, as every seasoned traveller knows, is its legendary traffic. Reading about it is one thing, but sitting completely stationary in a taxi with restless kids is an entirely different story. That’s exactly why Chatrium Grand turned out to be such a gem of a spot. Tucked right in the Siam district along Phetchaburi Road, it gives you that calm, five-star sanctuary feel while keeping you connected to everything. The BTS Skytrain is practically a hop, skip, and a jump away - clean, super efficient, and staffed by the most helpful attendants.
But the real game-changer for us was the hotel’s complimentary buggy shuttle that whisks you straight back and forth to the massive, ‘iconic’ lifestyle mall that is Siam Paragon. Having door-to-door access to retail therapy, great dining and entertainment without wrestling curbside traffic made our daily outings blissfully easy.
Now, travelling with a pre-teen and two teens is a whole different ballgame to years gone by. You would think family travel gets simpler as they grow up, but let’s be honest, it just comes with new bridges to cross. Thankfully, the hotel was wonderfully welcoming and made sure we had all the little comforts sorted. We opted for two rooms: my husband stayed with our eldest son in the Club Twin, while my daughter, my youngest son and I took over the Club King.
Family-friendly rooms

The hotel can easily accommodate family groups
The rooms are gorgeous, spacious sanctuaries with deep soaking tubs, plush four-fixture bathrooms stocked with fragrant Panpuri amenities, an espresso maker for that vital morning kick, and a complimentary welcome minibar on arrival.
If you're travelling with younger ones, Chatrium Hospitality’s Kids Stay Free offer is brilliant, allowing up to two children under 12 to stay and eat breakfast complimentary when sharing existing bedding.
Booking Club-level gave us access to the Chatrium Club Lounge on the 32nd floor, which quickly became our favourite family retreat. Sitting high above the skyline, it was our go-to for morning bites, all-day refreshments, and evening aperitif hours with lovely sips and savoury plates. But the absolute star of the show was the afternoon tea set. Truly, it was one of the best teas I’ve tucked into in ages; the warm, crumbly scones paired with rich clotted cream and gorgeous homemade jam were sublime.
Relaxed dining and spa heaven

A swim in the rooftop pool was a must at the end of a busy day
Downstairs at Savio, the breakfast spread catered effortlessly to our family’s quirky mix of cravings. My eldest made an absolute beeline for the dim sum station every morning, happily devouring freshly steamed char siu baos by the plateful, while my husband and I were in heaven with all the wholesome, nourishing choices - fresh tropical fruits, vibrant juices, and healthy breakfast bowls. For evening dining, the property also features etcha, where Chef Giacomo Primante serves up boundary-pushing dishes using fantastic local ingredients.
When it was time to step away from the urban hum, the lifestyle and wellness amenities delivered pure bliss. We spent easy, sunny afternoons on the 7th floor lounging by the massive pool, nibbling on wood-fired pizza and light snacks from Flow, the alfresco pool lounge. For a deeper holistic reset, the Thann Sanctuary Spa is heavenly for restorative bodywork, while the on-site Dr Orawan Medical Center brings a high-end clinical wellness element right to your doorstep. And while you sneak in some self-care or a workout in the fitness center, the Kids Zone keeps little ones thoroughly entertained.
Chatrium Grand Bangkok strikes that rare, beautiful balance of intuitive five-star luxury and genuine, family-first hospitality. It made our Bangkok homecoming totally seamless, deliciously fun, and deeply nourishing for every single one of us; chatrium.com.
