Cathay launches new-look lounge at Hong Kong airport - the revamped The Bridge includes new dining options
Cathay Pacific says it has completed the first stage of its lounge enhancement programme with the reopening of The Bridge business and first class lounge this month.
The Bridge is one of Cathay’s raft of premium lounges at Hong Kong International Airport. The Bridge is located near gate 35.
“Our goal was to create a space that feels genuinely welcoming, one that reflects our commitment to thoughtful, human centric design,” said Guillaume Vivet, general manager Customer Experience Design. Vivet went on to explain that it’s hoped that The Bridge is a space where customers can relax, with every detail, from furniture and dining to scent and music, carefully considered to enhance comfort.
Design features include cherry wood, framed screens and black granite, as well as carefully selected plants and original artwork from Cathay’s ‘Gallery in the Skies’ concept.
The Bridge dining space is divided in half, with the left side offering Chinese dishes including a Noodle Bar, and the right focused on international fare. The Bridge also features The Nook, a brand new Cathay lounge concept which expands dining seating into a “cosy corner”. The space serves Chinese regional small plates and lighter options and a custom dim sum cart. The right-side has a dedicated space for first class travellers and Cathay Diamond members and an international-style Food Hall. Meanwhile, The Bar offers cocktails, coffee and champagne with panoramic runway views.
The Bridge will also soon benefit from being the first Cathay lounge to adopt a biometric check-in system alongside a traditional check-in desk.
Over the next two years, Cathay will be launching new flagship lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing and New York as part of a HK$100 billion investment in new aircraft, cabin products, lounges and digital innovations.
At HKIA, The Wing, First will close on May 23, followed by The Wing, Business. The lounge is not expected to reopen until 2026. The Deck will serve as an interim first class lounge during the renovation of The Wing. The Pier, First and The Pier, Business will remain open during this time.
