Festive fun at Central Market's Christmas markets
A three-floor vintage and sustainable Christmas Market has opened in Central Market. The ‘Old But Gold HK’ event opened earlier this week, transforming the location into a vibrant marketplace with plenty of festive cheer and eco-friendly spirit.
Covering three floors, visitors to the European-inspired market can shop for seasonal gifts, enjoy festive food and drink and have some fun at the game booths, including treasure hunts, Christmas ring toss and a Christmas bean bag challenge.
Oasis on the ground floor is now open with a vintage-inspired Christmas environment, snowman decorations and rows of red and white wooden stalls. The main event, ‘Old But Gold Swap & Thrift’ kicks off from December 15 to 17 where visitors can exchange pre-loved clothing for something new. This year, 100% of all sales proceeds and donations, as well as clothing collected directly from the site, will go to victims of the Tai Po fire.
In addition, from December 18 to 28, the venue will host the annual ‘Old But Gold Christmas Vintage Flea Market’, an event that will bring together vintage local fashion brands, nostalgic collectibles, accessories and lifestyle products. Old But Gold will again be collaborating with Light2Up, featuring film costumes from Hong Kong movie crews available for sale. Livening up the event will be The Fader Crew, with live DJ performances on selected dates.
A Christmas market will line the 2/F 24hr Passageway until January 1, with a wide variety of seasonal gifts and lifestyle products. And on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day the atrium bridge area on 2/F will feature a Taiwanese brand pop-up zone.
Central Market will also be hosting two Christmas workshops, including a Christmas Wreath Workshop (2.30pm, December 13) where visitors can create stunning winter wreaths from fir, cedar, cypress and eucalyptus. The Mini Christmas Tree Workshop (2.30pm, December 20) will see participants string together pine branches, fairy lights and ornaments to create a fun decoration.
