Etihad crew will soon be taking off for Hong Kong again
Etihad Airways is set to relaunch its Hong Kong service with five flights a week from next year.
The airline is based in Abu Dhabi and will restart its Hong Kong service from November 3, 2025, flying Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Etihad's original flight service with Hong Kong ceased operation during the pandemic.
The Hong Kong service is part of a major expansion for Etihad’s Asian network with further new destinations including Taipei, Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Medan and Phnom Penh.
Flights to Taipei will start in September, with services to Phnom and Krabi taking off in October, followed by Chiang Mai, Hong Kong and Hanoi in November.
According to Antonaldo Neves, chief executive officer at Etihad, the airline is on track for its biggest year following the expansion of Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport. He said passenger numbers would increase to around 21 million in 2025.
The airline sees these new routes as “unlocking” Asia, with many of the new destinations not currently served from the United Arab Emirates.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is hoping to boost visitor numbers from Asia. The emirate boasts stunning Islamic architecture, a Louvre art museum and Ferrari World and Warner Bros theme parks on Yas Island.
The Hong Kong flights will take-off from Abu Dhabi every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, leaving Abu Dhabi at 8.45pm and landing in Hong Kong at 8.40am (local time). The return flight schedule starts on November 4 leaving Hong Kong on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Flights take-off from Hong Kong at 7.25pm and land in Abu Dhabi at 12.15am.
