The 29th Great Chefs of Hong Kong

The 29th Great Chefs of Hong Kong returns - particpants are gearing up for a great event at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

On Monday, May 11, the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong will transform into a culinary wonderland for the 29th Great Chefs of Hong Kong.

Organised by the Heep Hong Society, this isn't just another gala dinner; it’s a powerhouse gathering of nearly 60 top-tier restaurants and hotels, all uniting for one night to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and their families.

What it’s all about

The Great Chefs event is a unique hybrid of high-end food festival and heartfelt fundraiser. For nearly three decades, it has brought together the city's best culinary talent to raise money for Heep Hong Society’s Parents Resource Centres. These centres are a lifeline for families, providing support, guidance, and community for parents of children with developmental disabilities. With several centres receiving no government subsidies, this event is crucial for keeping their doors open.

What to look out for

Whether you’re a fan of Michelin-starred refinement or trendy new eateries, this year’s lineup is spectacular:

  • Michelin-starred masters: Look for signature plates from the likes of Hansik Goo (modern Korean) and Ming Court (exquisite Cantonese).

  • The heavy hitters: Culinary teams from The Ritz-Carlton, The Fullerton Ocean Park, and The Royal Garden will be out in full force.

  • Must-try dish: Don’t miss Cucina’s (Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel) Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek Strozzapreti with Barolo Wine Sauce and Black Truffle. It’s the ultimate in comfort-meets-luxury.

The ‘new kids' on the block

Part of the excitement this year is the debut of seven fresh dining concepts. Be sure to visit:

  • Bistrot’s Suzette: Chef Tiff Lo brings a touch of London-trained French elegance with her Chicken Liver Mousse.

  • Ponentino: If you’re feeling adventurous, try their Foie Gras Ice Cream with Mojito Sorbet - a playful surprise for the palate!

  • The Orient: A brand-new Asian steakhouse making its first appearance on the Great Chefs stage.

Plan your evening

There are three ways to experience the magic, depending on your preferred ‘vibe’.

  • A General Ticket ($980) includes a cocktail-style tasting of 30+ dishes in the Grand Ballroom.

  • A Great Chefs Plus ticket ($22,560 for a table of 12) includes a vibrant, seated experience with 40+ dishes and fine wines.

  • A Star Chef Plus entrance ($15,480 for a table of six) is the ultimate VIP experience in the Tiffin Lounge with 50+ dishes.

Pro-tip: This event sells out fast because it offers the rare chance to sample the city's most expensive menus for a fraction of the price - all while helping Hong Kong families thrive.
