Spot 'Mak Mak' on Macao's Light Rapid Transit network

If you’re thinking about visiting Macao, a new interactive visitor space has opened, bringing together tourism, culture, creativity, technology and story narration to create immersive experiences for anyone wanting to find out more about the city. Known as the Mak Mak Experience Hub - or simply the ‘Hub’ - it derives its name from the Macao Tourism Mascot, Mak Mak. 

Four themed zones

Through themed zones and various interactive experiences known as ‘Mak Moments’, the Hub brings to life the city’s unique charms, encouraging visitors to explore Macao and its local communities.

• Mak Mak’s Office - take a peek at Mak Mak’s office and her style during office hours;  

• Mak Friends Live Streaming Room - a fun, interactive space where visitors can take pictures with family and friends;

• Mak Mak’s Daily Travel - featuring an immersive virtual reality experience and a fun AI camera, this zone takes visitors on an exciting journey across Macao through Mak Mak’s eyes;

• Mak Mak’s Gourmet Station - as a food lover, Mak Mak unveils her personal pocket list of Macao’s best food stops. She’s also invited selected food and drink shops to make surprise pop-up appearances on weekends and other specific dates so visitors can enjoy the signature tastes of Macao.

Interactive games and exclusive rewards

A series of interactive games and exclusive rewards have been launched in the Hub, including ‘Find the Hidden Mini Mak Mak’, limited-edition themed postcards and fun stamp collections. Spend any amount at the Hub for an opportunity to play the ‘Digital Claw Game’ and grab a Mak Mak-themed souvenir.

Mak Mak the Macao Tourism Mascot 

Created in 2018, Mak Mak’s mission is to promote Macao as a travel destination, allowing visitors to explore Macao’s unique charms as a cultural crossroads of east and west. Popular with visitors, Mak Mak is also regarded with much fondness by Macao residents as the city’s ambassador. Look out for the Mak Mak-themed train on the city's Light Rapid Transit network, co-launched by Macao Government Tourism Office and Macao Light Rapid Transit Corporation earlier this summer.

Macao International Children’s Art Festival

The third International Children's Art Festival is taking place at Macao Cultural Centre

The third International Children’s Art Festival (MICAF) returns to Macao, featuring performances, art exhibitions and interactive workshops.

This major annual summer cultural event is organised by Macao’s Cultural Affairs Bureau. Visitors can enjoy international stage performances, children’s film screenings, art camps, a Children’s Fun Book House, a costume zone and hands-on family workshops.

The highlight of the event is the MICAF Fun Day arts carnival, with large-scale outdoor installations and fun water and foam play for children and their parents to enjoy. As in previous years, the main festival venue will be the Macao Cultural Centre. The Cultural Centre Plaza will also host weekend parties and the main carnival. In total, this year’s festival will feature almost 1,000 performances and activities.

Macao Leisure Bus

Explore Macao by complimentary shuttle bus

If you’re visiting Macao with children in tow, you’ll want to take advantage of the Macao Leisure Bus for getting around the city. This free-of-charge shuttle service features 14 routes and nine key stops around Macao, connecting major Cotai Strip and Peninsula resorts with tourism spots and historical neighbourhoods. The service operates on Fridays and weekends and helps visitors discover a little more about the city without the hassle of having to make transport arrangements.

Top tourist attractions on the routes are Macao Grand Prix Museum, ZAPE district (for Macao Science Center and Macau Fisherman's Wharf), the leisure area of Kun Iam Statue Waterfront and the neighbourhood district of Rua Seis do Bairro Iao Hon.

Free transfer from Hong Kong airport to Macao with ‘Fly You to Macao’

International passport holders can claim a free transfer to Macao

The Macao Government Tourism Office has launched a ‘Fly You to Macao’ programme. Under this special promotion, international passport holders can benefit from a free coach transfer from Hong Kong International Airport to the city of Macao.

Check your eligibility

To qualify for this promotion, you must hold the following documents:

• An international passport with valid foreign travel documents (this offer is not applicable to residents of the Greater China region);

• A boarding pass to Hong Kong;

• A declaration form.

How to claim your free transfer

• Before you travel, head online to macauhkairportbus.com and make your advance booking;

• On arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, head to the ticket counters in the E2 Transfer Area before immigration;

• Fill in the required forms to claim your free, one-way coach ticket;

• Head to the SkyPier Terminal at HKIA for transfer to your Macao Hong Kong Airport Direct coach.
