Greater Bay Airlines takes off for Sapporo - the city airport is a gateway to some of the best ski terrains in the world


Greater Bay Airlines is taking off for the ski slopes of Hokkaido this winter.


The Hong Kong-based carrier is launching six flights a week to Sapporo from December 17.


Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost prefecture. The international airport serves as a gateway to some of Asia’s best ski terrain, including the popular resorts of Niseko, Furano, Tomamu and Kiroro. Sapporo’s annual snow festival is also a big regional drawcard. 


Subject to regulatory approval, flights will leave Hong Kong at 9.55am on Monday, 7.10am on Tuesday, 8.10am on Wednesday and 10.15am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.


Return flights will leave Sapporo at 4.40pm on Monday and Wednesday, 4pm on Tuesday, 5pm on Friday and Sunday and at 6pm on Saturday. The flight time between Hong Kong and New Chitose airport in Sapporo is approximately five hours.


Low-cost carrier Greater Bay Airlines currently flies to 14 regional destinations, including Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Manila and Phu Quoc.
