Hong Kong Airlines has announced it will be launching a direct service with the ancient Chinese city of Lijiang.
Located in northern Yunnan province, Lijiang is famous for its Old Town which holds UNESCO Heritage Site status and is designated as a National Historical and Cultural City of China. The city is located on the Yungui Plateau abutting the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, an area renowned for its stunning scenery.
Famous attractions include the Old Town, Yulong Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge and Laojun Mountain. Further historic towns including Shuhe Ancient Town and Baisha Ancient Town, the oldest in the region, are also nearby.
The Hong Kong Airlines service launches on September 8, a favourable time for travel to Lijiang, and will operate three times a week. Hong Kong Airlines will be the only local carrier providing a direct route to Lijiang.
Flights are scheduled to take-off from Hong Kong on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, returning on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
