Hong Kong airport's Terminal 2 - the launch announcement was made during Chinese New Year celebrations
Hong Kong airport’s second terminal will open on May 27, according to officials.
The announcement was made by Airport Authority Hong Kong chairman Fred Lam and secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mable Chan, during the Chinese New Year celebration period in Hong Kong.
The new look terminal will serve 15 airlines and mostly handle regional flights.
The design philosophy for the entire terminal aims to be "more vibrant", with new self-service facilities and a wide range of fresh dining options. The two terminals will be connected and both will be accessible to the Airport Express rail service; train doors will open to the left for Terminal 1 and on the right for Terminal 2.
Carriers will move to the new terminal in phases this year and it is expected that Hong Kong Airlines, HK Express and Greater Bay Airlines will operate out of the new terminal.
The Coach Hall at T2, providing parking bays for tour buses and cross-boundary coaches, as well as ticketing counters for cross-boundary transport, is already in operation following a successful September 2025 launch.
