House of Dancing Water backstage tour - the show involves a huge support staff

Macau’s stunning House of Dancing Water show is launching a backstage tour this summer. The tour invites guests to take an exclusive, first-time peek behind the scenes of the mega-successful aquatic production.

The show uses a 270-degree amphitheatre-style setting with hydraulic platforms, state-of-the-art lighting and advanced water systems. The acrobatics, dances and water stunts are performed by a cast and crew of 300 from more than 30 countries.

Starting at the VVIP Box and Golden Circle seating area, visitors will be able to explore the technology and craftmanship that goes into the breathtaking show, before moving to the underground diving area.

There will be a tour of the major stage props, such as the Golden Boat and the Dream Pagoda, along with the massive 17-million-litre pool (equivalent to more than five Olympic-sized swimming pools) at the heart of the show. Here, they can take a look at how the professional divers and maintenance teams work to produce the spectacular stunts whilst maintaining stringent health and safety standards.

Visitors will have the opportunity to climb the 18m platform above the stage to enjoy a performer-eyed view of the entire set and finally, the tour explores the intensive training and rapid costume changes involved, highlighting the dedication that performers and backstage staff bring to each show.

Since its return last year, House of Dancing Water has delivered 450 performances and this summer will welcome its one-millionth audience from around the world.

House of Dancing Water Backstage Tour opens on July 15 and lasts around 30 minutes. Participants must be aged 12 years or older.
