Siaw 8

The second venue will be known as Siaw 8

Following the success of Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurant Siaw, co-founders Art Sinlaparkorn and Pae Promkerdkid are launching a follow-up dining destination, Siaw 8.

Siaw 8 is billed as a ‘Thai-style izakaya’, inspired by travels through Isan in the northeast of Thailand. The restaurant draws on the flavours and customs of rural Thai life and aims to bring a fresh perspective to regional Thai dining in Hong Kong.

Siaw has enjoyed much success since it opened last year in Tsim Sha Tsui, showcasing casual Thai street-food with an open kitchen and lively Thai pop soundtrack. So far, scant details have been revealed about the new Siaw iteration, except that it will open in Hong Kong in December.

The number ‘8’ in the name has been chosen to represent ‘endless friendship, continued growth and tastes that keep developing’. Expect grilled Isan speciality dishes, crisp salads, wok-cooked plates and a cocktail menu.

The interiors draw on a relaxed izakaya vibe, with an open kitchen at the heart of the experience, a bar, a live dessert station and a grab-and-go drinks fridge. Planed wood, raw concrete, orange breeze blocks and bamboo add to the look, with an image of Bruce Lee tucking into satay adding a characterful touch.
