Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur opens - this is the first Park Hyatt-branded hotel to open in Malaysia
A new addition to Kuala Lumpur’s hotel portfolio this month with the opening of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
A flurry of superlatives surround the launch; the hotel is located in the tallest skyscraper in Asia and is the first Park Hyatt-branded property to open in Malaysia. It also boasts, rather intriguingly, the city’s only chocolate-themed bar.
This is the third Hyatt property to open in the Malaysian capital within 12 months. Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific, David Udell, noted at the launch that Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur marks an important milestone for the Park Hyatt brand within Southeast Asia.
“The Park Hyatt brand has hit a milestone at 50 properties globally,” he said. “Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur makes for an exciting chapter for Hyatt’s brand’s growth in the region.”
The property offers 252 guest rooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows soaking up sweeping views of the city. Suites feature living areas, a standalone bath tub, rain shower and aromatherapy shower steamer in the bathroom, a study area, and, in selected rooms, private dining spaces overlooking the city.

Dining options include Merdeka Grill, specialising in premium cuts and sustainable seafood; signature dishes include cedarwood-roasted salmon, Chateaubriand carved tableside and vanilla ice cream topped with local T’lur caviar. There’s also a Park Lounge serving local fare. But the real point of difference is Cacao Mixology & Chocolate, Kuala Lumpur’s first chocolate-themed bar; think chocolate-themed cocktails and small batch distilled spirits and zero-proof specialities served with handcrafted chocolate treats. A behind the scenes patisserie tour led by the hotel’s pastry chefs is also offered.
A spa and indoor infinity pool on the 99th floor completes the picture. The space also includes a yoga studio, state-of-the-art fitness centre, private treatment suites, a relaxation lounge with aromatherapy steam bath and Himalayan salt alcove, vitality pool - and the 30m infinity pool overlooking the city skyline.
The hotel occupies floors 75 to 114 of the new Merdeka 118 precinct, currently the tallest building in Asia. A guided tour through the precinct is available through the hotel, with exclusive access to the historical Stadium Merdeka where Malaysia’s independence was declared on August 31, 1957 (also referred to as Merdeka Day), as well as Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque and the Merdeka Textile Museum.
“Merdeka 118 will be a catalyst to uplift communities and enhance Kuala Lumpur’s long term vibrancy,” said YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, group chairman of Malaysian investment company, PNB. “We’re excited to welcome the Park Hyatt brand to Malaysia as part of this landmark project.”
