Capella at Galaxy Macau - penthouses boast private infinity pools

The much-anticipated Capella at Galaxy Macau opened this week. The property is part of the Galaxy integrated resort complex, featuring luxury hotels and entertainment.

Capella is the crown jewel of the Galaxy Macau offering, positioned towards the ‘premium guest’ market. The property offers suites and penthouses designed by Parisian interior design studio Moinard Bétaille with a ‘gilded jungle’ theme drawing inspiration from Macau’s tropical landscapes. Moinard Bétaille’s brief was to create a residential sanctuary which has resulted in a forest-like canopy over the lobby, a Tree of Life and multi-sensory digital artwork by Laura Cheung. It is also Cheung’s hand behind the jungle-inspired suite wall coverings.

Dappled light mimicking sunlight filtering through a rainforest canopy guides guests along the foliage-lined driveway. Round pools, more foliage and carved wooden stalks greet guests in the lobby.

Guests are welcomed by their ‘Capella Culturist’ in the Capella Living Room and are escorted to their room for in-suite check-in by their butler.

The Capella penthouses are among the largest hotel rooms in southern China. With two and four bedroom configurations and expansive indoor-outdoor living, the penthouses open onto terraces, sun rooms and glass walled outdoor private infinity pools. The four-bedroom penthouses feature a private Winter Garden, wellness room with massage chair and TechnoGym personal training equipment, a games room with foosball table and a butler’s pantry. Further additions include a soundproofed entertainment room with home theatre and karaoke system, marble bathrooms, soaking tubs and his-and-hers showers. There’s also a VIK (Very Important Kids) room for families.

One and two bedroom penthouses feature indoor relaxation pools and sunbeds.

Every guest regardless of accommodation type has access to a 24-hour butler service, with luggage packing and unpacking, a complimentary minibar, locally-sourced pre-batched cocktails and an Illy IperEspresso Professional coffee machine. The dedicated Capella butlers are unique to this hotel, while Capella Culturists are on-hand to curate bespoke experiences around Macau.

Dining options include Pony & Plume whisky and cocktail bar, Botanica, a 48-seat restaurant by executive chef Stephen Hsu and still to come is a fine-dining restaurant helmed by Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Vicky Cheng.

“This strategic partnership positions Capella at Galaxy Macau as a distinctive expression of our brand vision: an intimate, residential retreat within an integrated resort context,” said Clive Edwards, senior vice president of Capella Hotel Group. “Our guests enjoy seamless access to Galaxy’s world-class amenities while experiencing the culturally immersive hospitality that defines Capella, from our Capella Culturists to curated experiences celebrating Macau’s rich heritage.”
