One of Bangkok’s most hotly anticipated new hotels will be open for bookings from this December. The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok occupies an absolute waterfront position on the city’s Chao Phraya River and centred on Bangkok’s historic Custom House. The Custom House was established in 1888 under King Rama V and at the time was regarded as the country’s gateway to the world. It is currently undergoing a meticulous restoration project. The 75-key hotel is managed by Langham Hospitality Group and is a “respectful counterpart” to the heritage building it sits beside. The new addition is designed by renowned Thai architect Smith Obayawat, founder of the Office of Bangkok Architects, and features a curvilinear structure to reflect the movement of the river. Inside, design links past with present and the 60 guest rooms and 15 suites overlook courtyards, the Bangkok skyline and the river. Villa management company Elite Havens Asia has announced it will be launching a 31-villa Balinese estate in Seminyak in October. Akkulla is set to be one of the island’s most exciting new openings of the year. Located minutes from the beach in the holiday hotspot of Seminyak, it will offer the privacy of a villa holiday alongside boutique hotel services. The landscaped estate caters to families and multi-generational groups as well as long-stay travellers, with villa configurations ranging from one- to four-bedrooms. All villas have a private pool. Communal spaces include Rasa Galleria, a lifestyle hub with dining and wellness facilties and eaturing an all-day restaurant and a wellness centre. This stunning new retreat is locaated in off-the-beaten-track Phong Nha, a rural region in central Vietnam famous for its towering limestone mountains and world-renowned cave systems. A new five-star family resort is coming to Phuket this autumn. Chatrium Phuket Rawai Resort is set to launch in September with reservations already open. Set on the tranquil shores of Rawai Beach on Phuket’s southern coastline, this seaside retreat is Chatrium Hospitatality’s first property to open in Phuket. The family-welcoming resort offers rooms and suites with garden and pool views and one- and two-room private pool villas. This new launch sees the first Canopy hotel, a new brand by Hilton channelling a ‘high-end boutique’ vibe, to open in Southeast Asia. Not new but worthy of note nonetheless, Nina Hotel Island South has reopened following a HK$120 million renovation. The Southern district-located property has unveiled a new lobby and refreshed guest rooms, as well as unveiling a raft of signature balcony suites and family rooms. The new-look lobby features natural wood with smart marble accents and customised seating zones, as well as a Nina Communal bar and pantry area. The balcony suites are located on the top floors with sweeping views of the local area.
