Té Bo review - the six-course menu is a real treat, perfect for date night or an evening with friends

If you’re looking for exceptional gastronomy served with a side of French charm, Hong Kong has just handed us the perfect new destination. Welcome to Té Bo.

Playfully named after the French phrase “t'es beau” (meaning "you’re beautiful"), this warm, vibrant and utterly inviting retreat is redefining modern luxury in the city. It’s chic, it’s joyful, and it is entirely welcoming - the ultimate spot for a relaxed yet impressive evening on the town.

Leading the kitchen is executive chef Sebastian Lorenzi, a brilliant young homegrown talent. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Sebastian grew up immersed in the restaurant industry, inspired by his mother who managed the city’s iconic Grappa’s for nearly three decades. After honing his craft in legendary Michelin-starred kitchens globally - including L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal - and spending six years as chef de cuisine at Arcane, Sebastian brings a brilliant culinary vision to Té Bo. Together with general manager François Ferand and sommelier Stanko Luksic, the team delivers flawless French technique using seasonal ingredients in a beautifully welcoming space.

Our evening kicked off well. I was presented with a gorgeous glass of Noble Truth Sparkling Tea - a delicious alcohol- and caffeine-free option balancing delicate rose and tart cranberry with a refreshing finish. Meanwhile, my date enjoyed a crisp glass of Champagne La Réserve, a sophisticated blend of three vintage years that set a wonderful tone for the night.

We opted for the six-course tasting menu, which manages to be incredibly sophisticated yet completely approachable. The culinary journey began with a stunning trio of bites: a Yellowfin Tuna Tartelette singing with yuzu, ginger and pops of finger lime; a delicate Potato Crisp with a rich mushroom emulsion and kiku; and a show-stopping Polmard Beef Tartare topped with Kristal caviar and a lively wasabi gel.

Next up was the bread service - and trust me, it’s an event in itself. We were presented with a choice of toasted grains sourdough or pillow-soft brioche, paired with classic salted Bordier butter and a house-made ‘beurre noisette’ (brown butter). We nearly came to blows over the butter serve; it was a creamy slice of heaven.

While my date moved on to a smooth, rich 2022 Theo Dancer Roc Breia Chardonnay, we both tucked into the seafood courses. The Red Prawn Carpaccio with lobster jelly and pickled myoga was refreshing and was followed by a gorgeous Lightly Roasted White Asparagus, rich with a truffled Taiyouran egg yolk. Then came a dish that looked almost too beautiful to eat; the Raviolo of Hokkaido Scallop with a deeply savoury roasted fish sauce.

For the mains, accompanied by a robust 2021 Domaine du Colombier Hermitage Rouge for my partner, we sampled the Patagonian Toothfish - a complete dream for seafood lovers, it comes draped in champagne sauce and Oscietra caviar, before sharing the standout centerpieces. We had a choice between a succulent Roasted Aveyron Lamb Saddle or the Wagyu M9+ Striploin served with potato mille-feuille and black garlic. While both were masterfully executed, the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu was the undisputed star of the table.

We finished on a sweet note with a stunning Sakura and Vanilla Mochi, paired with a vibrant white peach sorbet and crystallised raspberry. A final round of elegant, bite-sized mignardises rounded off a flawless evening.

What we loved: With a six-course dinner menu priced at an approachable $1,488 - and a commitment to sustainably sourced caviar - Té Bo exceeded our expectations. Each detail is thoughtfully curated and the vibe remains relaxed. Whether you're planning a memorable date night or a sophisticated evening catching up with close friends, Té Bo is a fresh, soulful dining experience. We’re already looking forward to their next menu change…
