Art Basel has confirmed it will be returning to Hong Kong in 2026 with next year’s dates announced as March 27 to 29, with preview days on March 25 and 26.

Art Basel is the largest international art fair in Hong Kong and the jewel in the crown of Hong Kong Art Month. It offers an in-depth insight into a diverse range of contemporary art from around the world, championing both established and emerging artists.

In 2026, the event will bring together 240 leading galleries from 41 countries and territories and with more than half from within the Asia-Pacific region. Twenty-nine participants have spaces in Hong Kong.

First time exhibitors include a number of galleries from Australia, Japan, South Korea, Greater China, Turkey, French, Georgia, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the US. There will also be a brand new sector, Echoes, spotlighting works created within the past five years through artist presentations.

The city-wide public programme also returns, with free public access to film screenings, conversations and collaborative events.

And for the fifth year, Art Basel and M+ will co-commission a public artwork for the M+ facade in West Kowloon Cultural District. Pakistani-American artist Shahzia Sikander will transform the M+ exterior with hand-painted watercolours tracing historic and modern trade routes that have shaped global exchange.

“The 2026 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong is a celebration of the city’s status as Asia’s global hub for culture,” said Angelique Siyang-Le, director of Art Basel Hong Kong. “Above all, our aim is to inspire, to foster learning, and to bring communities together. Art Basel Hong Kong is more than an art fair - it is a living ecosystem where creativity and culture drive a vibrant, resilient art market.”
