If you’re heading to Bali you must complete a new health declaration form to enter the island.
Due to the spread of Mpox, all foreigners arriving in Indonesia must now fill-in an electronic self-declaration form known as the ‘Satusehat Health Pass’. The new rule applies to all foreign travellers including flight crew.
The Bali health declaration for Mpox should be completed online or via the relevant app before boarding. Once the form has been submitted, travellers will receive a barcode containing their health and travel history which Indonesian officials will scan on arrival.
Balinese airport officials have also reportedly introduced thermal imaging cameras in the arrivals terminal and if passengers show symptoms of Mpox when entering Bali, they will be directed to a hospital for treatment.
So far this year there have been more than 80 confirmed cases of Mpox, formerly known as Monkey Pox, in Indonesia. The World Health Organisation declared Mpox as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on August 14.
Mpox is transmitted through close contact with an infected animal or person including through contact with contaminated objects such as clothing.
Patients can expect rashes and lesions to the skin and flu-like symptoms including headaches and a sore throat. Recovery usually takes place within a month but the virus is more dangerous for the immunocompromised, pregnant women and young children.
