Cathay opens refurbished The Wing, First lounge

• The renovated lounge features revamped menus with Chinese dishes created in collaboration with Mott 32

• A wellness space known as The Retreat has opened in the lounge offering foot and neck massages

• The refurbished space is part of a broader lounge renovation project both in Hong Kong and other major cities

Cathay Pacific has revealed a first look at its redesigned flagship lounge, The Wing, First at Hong Kong International Airport.

The new lounge opens to passengers on April 22 and is part of a broader lounge enhancement project in Hong Kong and in other major cities around the world. The project started with extensive redesigns of The Bridge in Hong Kong and the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Beijing last year. 

The Wing, First is located on the east side of Terminal 1 and has been a cornerstone of Cathay’s ground offerings since it opened in 1998. The redesigned space features all-new furniture and lighting across areas including an atrium with a bar area and the Pantry offering an extensive self-service selection of lighter bites and breakfast items. The Dining Room offers a more formal dining experience with à la carte table service and a refreshed menu featuring regional Chinese dishes created in partnership with fine dining restaurant Mott 32, as well as Asian and Western options. 

All areas of the lounge have had a facelift

The Retreat, first introduced at The Pier, First, has now been rolled out at The Wing, First. The tranquil space offers seven private booths where passengers can recharge with a foot or neck and shoulder massage.

“The Wing, First has long held a special palace in not only our hearts, but also our customers’,” said Cathay chief executive officer Ronald Lam. “Its reopening marks an important milestone in the evolution of our flagship lounge design and reflects our longstanding commitment to putting people at the heart of everything we do.”

The Wing, First, Cathay Pacific will introduce its first-ever dedicated loung in New York later this year after the airline moves into John F Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6 building.
