Duddell's closing for summer refresh - the space is being revamped for the first time in 12 years

One of Hong Kong’s most popular eating spots is getting a makeover.

Duddell’s, the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant on Duddell Street will be closing from July 7 for a month while the work is undertaken.

The design is being led by Hong Kong’s André Fu and is the restaurant’s first major refresh since its opening in 2013.

Since it opened in Central’s historic Shanghai Tang Mansion, Duddell’s has welcomed more than 600,000 diners, including celebrity designer Victoria Beckham, Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage and chef Alain Ducasse. It has also served more than 80,000 weekend brunchers.

Duddell’s won its first Michelin star in 2014 and again in 2017 and was awarded two Michelin stars in 2015 and 2016. According to Cantonese master chef Chan Yau Leung, who leads the kitchen team, favourite dishes at Duddell’s include the signature crispy fried chicken, the honey-glazed barbecued pork and crispy local beef brisket.

The revamp will encompass interior design as well as culinary execution and a new food and drinks menu.

The restaurant is slated to reopen on August 7. Check on its progress by following @duddellshk on social media. Duddell’s in Hong Kong Airport will remain open.
