For lots of sparkle and plenty of festive cheer, head over to Macao and see the city aglow as it lights up for Christmas this weekend.
Light up Macao 2025 is an international light art event with 28 installations across Nam Van, Northern District and ZAPE. The event runs nightly from December 6 until January 11 and features illuminated district routes, a new 3D mapping show on the façade of Macao Grand Prix Museum and weekend carnivals and markets.
Follow the 'Starlight Route' in Nam Van District which is inspired by Maritime Silk Road and constellations. More lights adorn Northern District with the ‘Light Paradise’ illuminations; here, the theme of ‘lighting a lamp’ takes inspiration from Macao’s World Heritage architecture and Sino-Portuguese culture.
ZAPE District will welcome ‘Dazzling Party’, a night-time carnival with installations and local signature delicacies. Dazzling Party looks to weave together gastronomy and creativity, underscoring Macao’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

And for the first time, Macao Grand Prix Museum will feature a 3D mapping show on the building façade. The six-minute show will take place every 15 minutes between 6 and 10pm during Light up Macao.
There's more fun at ZAPE Christmas Wonderland, an open-style Christmas street zone between Rua de Cantão and Rua de Pequim, with themed installations and illuminations and interactive experiences. And the Northern Winter Market in Northern District features Christmas stalls, local crafts, family-friendly games, a wishing tree and interactive zones with snow effects. The market is free to enter.

Two free shuttle buses will operate each weekend, one from the central district’s Luso International Bank to ZAPE and a second bus will link all three event districts in a circular route. Buses depart every 30 minutes between 5 and 10pm. More details are available online from Macao Government Tourism Office.
