Frenchies Bakery & Coffee opens on Hong Kong's Hollywood Road

Grab a treat at the new coffee space on Hollywood Road.

Frenchies Bakery & Coffee has opened on Hong Kong's Hollywood Road.

The good times are perhaps returning to Hong Kong. Amongst the avalanche of closures comes a green shoot of growth as Hollywood Road welcomes a new coffee space.

Frenchies Bakery & Coffee is a neighbourhood bakery and coffee bar boasting a viennoiserie counter bursting with freshly baked artisanal treats. Not quite as showy as a patisserie, but a bit more than a bakery, a traditional viennoiserie showcases a range of tasty everyday baked goods such as croissants, pains au chocolat, breads and pastries.

And the good news continues with Frenchies Bakery & Coffee opening from the commuter-friendly hour of 7am - pop in for a specialty espresso cinnamon roll or almond and orange paste ‘Dragon’s Back’ pastry before logging on for the day.

Pick-up and go or enjoy your morning coffee at the window-facing counter watching the world go by on Hollywood Road. Frenchies Bakery & Coffee also delivers city-wide via Deliveroo or welcomes advance orders through its website.

Frenchies Bakery & Coffee is the creation of Matthieu Maury who landed in Hong Kong in 2013 speaking only French. Over the years he honed his hospitality skills with coffee and bakery specialist Fineprint, French baker Eric Kayser and founded coffee chain La Station in Wan Chai.

“Frenchies is all about community,” he said. “Our aesthetic is modern, but our values are traditional. Our superior coffee beans arrive green and are roasted locally to ensure freshness of flavour, whilst our viennoiserie selection, made with French butter and patisserie flour, is a cut above the rest.”

Frenchies Bakery & Coffee is open from 7am to 7pm at 39-43 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong.
