Hong Kong Airllines launches Melbourne service - the airlline will be hopping to Victoria three times a week
Hong Kong Airlines is taking off for Melbourne with the first Victoria-bound flight lifting off this week.
The new service will operate three times a week and marks the airline’s second scheduled destination in Australia following the launch of a Sydney service earlier this year.
To commemorate the event, special events were held at both Hong Kong and Melbourne airports. Distinguished guests in Hong Kong included president of Hong Kong Airlines, Jeff Sun, Ian McGraw from the Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong, representatives from Tourism Australia, Visit Victoria and Airport Authority Hong Kong, with passengers receiving souvenirs to celebrate the moment.
The Melbourne route will be operated by A330 aircraft with economy and business class cabins. Lie-flat beds are available in business class and passengers departing from Hong Kong can tuck into a new seasonal menu inspired by the flavours of Lantau Island and created in collaboration with Yue restaurant at Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel. Flights leave Hong Kong at 11.10pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, touching down in Melbourne at 11.30am. Return flights leave Melbourne at 1pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrive back in Hong Kong at 7.25pm.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sun said the airline was delighted to launch another “vital Australian route. This service not only strengthens our international network coverage but also enriches the long-haul travel options available for our customers. We are honoured to operate this route with our Airbus A330 wide-bodied aircraft, further deepening exchanges between two of the world’s most vibrant cities and promoting connectivity between Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, the wider Asian region and Australia.”
From now until March 31 2026, economy passengers connecting via Hong Kong on selected flights will be able to access the Hong Kong Airlines’ lounge, Club Autus, at Hong Kong International Airport.
