While Hong Kong endures yet more social distancing restaurant restrictions, Singapore is back in the foodie game. Gayatri Bhaumik tucks into the city’s most fun family weekend brunches.
Weekends with the family are all about the 'yum' factor.
As Singapore eases out of one of Asia’s strictest pandemic lockdowns, its residents are eager to get back to (safely) enjoying their city. One popular indulgence? A sumptuous weekend brunch. To cater to the island’s discerning diners, many restaurants and cafés are offering exciting new packages (and lots come with free-flow bubbles - hooray!). Here’s my pick of the best brunches in Singapore this month...
The Kitchen Table
The latest offering at this peppy restaurant at the W Singapore Sentosa Cove is all about reconnecting friends and family after the months-long lockdown.
The all-new Sunday Sharing Feast is a brunch filled with gourmet eats – think Reserved Iberico Jamón and Spinach Cured Ham, grilled Hamachi with cured pork cheeks and romesco sauce, Black Angus rib eye with bone marrow, and Kühlbarra barramundi fillet with clams, shellfish, basil and charred broccolini.
This relaxed space is family-friendly, so bring the kids – they’ll definitely enjoy the Argentinian churros with dulce de leche and chocolate sauce that’s served up for dessert.
(Side note: there’s free-flow booze for the grown-ups, too!)
Where: The Kitchen Table, W Singapore Sentosa Cove, 21 Ocean Way, Sentosa.
When: Every Sunday, 12.30 to 3pm.
How much: SG$110 (food and non-alcoholic drinks), or SG$130 (food and free-flow cocktails), or SG$150 (food and free-flow Champagne). SG$55 for diners under 12 years.

Colony
This sophisticated, market-style restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore has reinvented its popular Champagne Brunch for the post-pandemic world.
Normally, diners are free to roam, selecting their preferences from the buffet and live stations; now, they’ll access a digital menu via a QR code. The food offerings are, of course, as indulgent as ever. Sashimi or charcuterie platters? Duck foie gras parfait? Lobster eggs benedict? Slow-baked Onyx beef tomahawk? You’ll find it all on the globe-trotting menu here, which includes everything from upscale Western classics, sophisticated Chinese fare and rich, Indian dishes.
In case you’re wondering, the signature pour is the Champagne Barons de Rothschild Réserve Ritz Brut NV (although wines, cocktails, signature craft beers and more are available, too).
If the kids are dining, their package includes free-flow soft drinks and juices.
Where: The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, 7 Raffles Avenue.
When: Every Sunday, 12 to 3pm.
How much: SG$178 (including free-flow), SG$89 for children aged six to 12 years; SG$45 for children aged three to five years.

The White Rabbit
Looking for a brunch with fab food and plenty of drinks with loads of options for the kids, too? Look no further than this modern European restaurant set in a (deconsecrated and resorted) church that offers old-world charm in abundance.
There’s no set or package here, so you can order whatever you fancy from the brunch menu. Perhaps you’ll start with house-made duck rillettes and truffle and brie brioches, before moving onto a classic eggs benedict, a lobster croque monsieur, or Wagyu quarter-pounder?
Meanwhile, the kids can fill up on mac and cheese or crispy battered sea bass.
There’s plenty to sip on, too, from bubbly and wine to cocktails and (soft) juices, but the gin and tonic selection (yes, they have their own section on the menu) is worth exploring.
Where: The White Rabbit, 39C Harding Road.
When: Weekends, 11am to 2.30pm.
How much: Prices vary according to dish.

Brasserie Les Saveurs
Brunching for a special occasion? Then you’ll want to try the epic St. Regis Sunday Brunch served at this luxurious eatery.
The impressive menu features all manner of gustatory delights, from grilled Boston lobster with garlic parsley butter and chicken Caesar sandwich rolls, to beef tenderloin with pan-seared foie gras and traditional baked lasagne.
If you’ve got the littles in tow, the Family Set includes kid-friendly options like deep-fried chicken cordon bleu with fries and ravioles de royans (pasta dumplings); otherwise, the Duo Set is perfect for two. The sets come with free-flow drinks, but if you’re feeling extra fancy (the environs here will do that), you can upgrade to include a bottle of ‘R’ de Ruinart Champagne.
Where: Brasserie Les Saveurs, The St Regis Hotel, 29 Tanglin Road.
When: Every Sunday, 12 to 2.30pm.

The Clifford Pier
Tucked into the legendary Fullerton Bay Hotel on Singapore’s waterfront, this stylish spot offers a much-lauded Heritage Dim Sum Brunch on weekends.
Appropriately, the generous spread includes popular Singaporean delicacies alongside more traditional favourites. Here, you’ll be enjoying rojak, satay, popiah, kueh pie tee, laksa and chilli crabs alongside baskets of shumai, char siew bao, and shrimp dumplings.
Normally, many of the local dishes would be served at a live station, reviving the local hawker centre tradition, but right now, this is limited in order to curb social interaction.
The surprisingly well-priced package can be paired with a free-flow of Prosecco, wines, beers, and soft drinks.
Where: The Clifford Pier, The Fullerton Bay Hotel, 1 Fullerton Square.
When: Weekends, 12 to 3pm.
How much: SG$58 (adults, food only), or SG$136 (adults, with free-flow).
SG$27 for children.
