Hong Kong has a new hotel for the new year following the launch of Royal Garden Kowloon East this month.
The Tseung Kwan O-based property was originally Crowne Plaza Kowloon East but has been redesigned and rebranded by Sun Hung Kai Properties, the same developer behind The Royal Garden hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui which opened in 1981.
The new family and pet-friendly property has a fresh, nature-inspired design and facilities including an Italian restaurant, 25m outdoor pool and a kids’ club.
“This new destination promises to be a vibrant and distinctive addition to Hong Kong’s hospitality landscape,” said area general manager Jenny Chan.
The Royal Garden Kowloon East offers a novel opportunity to escape the city with villas with private gardens (ideal for families) which are designed with a Balinese aesthetic to set the relaxing holiday vibe. The villas are also pet friendly.
There are also family friendly rooms with interconnecting options as well as bunk bed studios and deluxe suites with multiple rooms. Family-friendly facilities include the Junk Bay Kids’ Den (Junk Bay was the former, English, moniker for Tsueng Kwan O, reflecting the area's orgins as a bay used by fishing junks prior to reclamation) with an ocean adventure theme and play area and a Fortress Room with a castle theme. Outdoors, there’s a family barbecue area and play area for kids.
Further dining options will include the launch of Ponentino, inspired by The Royal Garden’s award winning Sabatini Ristorante Italiano and scheduled to open this summer. The rooftop venue will offer a menu of regional Italian flavours with sweeping views of Tseung Kwan O.
“It is a true urban resort,” adds designer director Otto Ng of LAAB architects. “A relaxed haven of tranquility, wellness and curated experiences from the bustle of Hong Kong.”
The Royal Garden Kowloon East will be unveiled in three phases, starting with the rooms and suites in January, followed by the villas and family amenities in March and the final phase concluding in July with the grand opening of Ponetino.
