David Beckham is in town to open Macau's Londoner Grand - the hotel's G Bear Café will also launch
David Beckham is in Macau this week to officially open Londoner Grand, the city’s latest hotel opening.
As Sands global ambassador (and soon-to-be knight of the realm of the United Kingdom), Beckham will host a star-studded party alongside the debonair G Bear, Londoner Grand’s no 1 ambassador and chief experience officer.
Londoner Grand’s dining will take centre stage at the event, with a gala dinner in the Hampton Court featuring two courses by chef Edward Lee of Netflix hit show Culinary Class Wars. Lee’s dishes will be complemented by selected plates from The Londoner Macao’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant, The Huaiyang Garden, and Michelin-Selected restaurant, The Mews.
Londoner Grand is a collaboration between Sands China, owner of Londoner Macao, and Marriott International and is Marriott International’s first Luxury Collection Hotel in Macau. The hotel is located in Marriott’s 4,000-room Sheraton Grand hotel which closed last year after 12 years of operation.
The new property offers 2,405 rooms and suites and several new dining concepts. According to Sands China, Londoner Grand channels an elegant London townhouse style, inspired by London’s upmarket Mayfair district. A number of the suites will feature private terraces, children’s rooms, media rooms and private plunge pools. The property has been designed by Hong Kong design company, Peter Silling & Associates.
Five dining spots include Hampton Court, featuring international and Chinese buffet-style dining, and Chelsea Garden for all-day dining. Meanwhile, The Conservatory houses a dim sum restaurant and tearoom, a sweet shop and a British pub. Two Chinese restaurants serve Cantonese and Sichuan dishes.
No 1 ambassador G Bear will be opening the G Bear Café at the event, described as an instagrammable social hub for the ‘fabulous and fashionable’ to sit, sip and socialise. Top tipples include an egg tart affogato.
Londoner Grand opened to guests at the end of last year.
