Hong Kong's Coca-Cola Museum opens for public tours - the tour features a brand new exhibition

Swire Coca-Cola is rounding off its 60th anniversary celebrations by inviting the public inside its newly upgraded Hong Kong Kong Coca-Cola Museum for the first time, with three, special guided tours.

Housed inside the world’s tallest bottling plant, the museum showcases the brand’s evolution in Hong Kong since 1965.

The tours feature a brand new time-travel concept, The Bottling Hunt, with interactive experiences taking visitors through the plant’s 60-year history and showing how Swire Coca-Cola HK has grown alongside the city. There’s a close-up insight into the drinks production process and how it is ever-evolving, particularly with regards sustainability. For example, since last autumn, 500ml Coca-Cola bottles have been made from locally recycled plastic, embracing a ‘locally collected, locally remade’ circular economy.

Visitors can also enjoy interactive activities, dressing in period costumes from 1886 when Coca-Cola was invented, and taking part in ‘scent challenges’.

The 18-storey, 147m Sha Tin bottling plant was established by Swire Coca-Cola HK in 1991. For 60 years, Swire Coca-Cola HK has been the city’s only authorised bottler and distributor of The Coca-Cola Company and is now the fifth-largest bottling partner globally.

Swire Coca-Cola HK supplies the 7.5 million Hong Kong population with more than 80 products under 20 brands. The portfolio features sparkling, sweetened and unsweetened tea, water, sports drinks, juice, coffee and energy drinks. Brands include Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Bonaqua, Aquarius, Minute Maid and - of course - Coca-Cola.

How do I book?

The tours will take place on March 7 with three one-hour sessions available, at  1.30, 3 and 4.30pm. Admission is free, and each session is limited to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Can't access a tour? The plant offers free-of-charge, group guided tours (in English) to schools and non-profit organisations; there must be at least ten participants and visitors must be six years and older. Bookings online.
